Climbing hills

Hiking isn’t just about putting one foot in front of the other; it’s a transformative experience that nourishes the soul and invigorates the spirit. It’s about immersing yourself in the rhythm of the wilderness, where every step brings you closer to something extraordinary.

Picture this: the crisp morning air filling your lungs as you ascend a winding trail, surrounded by towering trees and the symphony of birdsong. With each passing mile, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of daily life, embracing the serenity of the natural world.

But hiking isn’t just about the destination; it’s about the journey itself. It’s about the moments of wonder and discovery along the way—the hidden waterfalls cascading down moss-covered rocks, the panoramic vistas that stretch to the horizon, and the unexpected encounters with wildlife that remind us of our place in the web of life.

And let’s not forget the physical benefits of hiking—a natural remedy for the stresses of modern living. As you navigate rugged terrain and conquer challenging inclines, you’ll feel the exhilarating rush of endorphins coursing through your veins, leaving you refreshed and rejuvenated.

But perhaps the greatest gift of hiking is the sense of connection it fosters—not just with the natural world, but with ourselves and our fellow adventurers. Whether you’re hiking solo, with a beloved companion, or in the company of kindred spirits, each shared step strengthens the bonds of friendship and leaves you with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

So, lace up your boots, pack your provisions, and set forth on a journey of discovery. Embrace the wilderness, and let the trail guide you to places unknown. For in the realm of hiking, every path leads to adventure, and every summit holds the promise of a new beginning.

A safe space for imagination

My name is Ben Chavez, and I created this website with the main purpose of documenting the process of my upcoming record. Welcome to my digital shelter, feel at home, grab a cup with your favorite drink as you read this brief introduction.

I’ve been writing songs half of my life, I wouldn’t say that I am a full-fledged musician, I see myself more as a craftsman dedicated to the art of putting together words, chords, and melodies. So far in my journey as a songwriter, I failed more than I had succeeded, and I say this with great relief in my heart.

Back in the summer of 2021 I had a personal crisis and decided to give a try to cognitive behavioral therapy and after a couple months of therapy I was feeling renewed and motivated to keep going with my life and projects.  The last two years have been decisive and brought me to a point of self-contemplation, in which I found myself confronted by my own frustration and lack of satisfaction, it has been a period of constant transformation reconnecting again with these vital parts of me that somehow were deeply repressed or set aside attending other stuff.  CBT made me realize how out of touch I was with my true self.

Soon after that I was meeting old friends and having jamming sessions that ended up as a fun experiment. Around this time, I was invited to collaborate with other friends on their projects, but for reasons related to work schedules I had to put a hold on that. Yet I was glad to be involved in a few rehearsals and play with other musicians since I left live performances in 2017.

Making my own solo project is an idea that has been on my mind for some time, and now I’m sure it is a good time for me to bring this project into the physical world. This personal transformation has brought back my confidence and made me accept my craft humbly.  At first, I thought of recording it myself at home but later I started to think that the best for me now is to center on writing and performance instead of juggling with the whole production, recording, mixing, and mastering process. I’m already in talks with a studio and everything seems to be on the right track. But more on that in a future post.

Well, if you made it this far on the reading there’s a chance that you are an artist of some kind. Maybe you are a musician, illustrator, writer, painter, photographer, film maker or maybe someone with a very curious mind. Whether you are any of the above or you’re devoted to another craft I hope you find my experience useful and enjoy the content on this website, feel free to leave a comment or contact me through an email, I’d love to hear from you and your experiences. I will be sharing with you my progress and other material that keeps me motivated such as books, documentaries, movies, podcasts, musical playlist, and other serendipities.

I’ll try to write at least once a week to keep this space up to date, I hope that in the long run we can build up a small community of artists, rebels and associates willing to collaborate in this or other projects that may rise from the interaction with other creative minds.

The Ultimate Guide to Traveling When You Have No Money

f you’ve ever felt like the world is too big, too confusing or just downright overwhelming to tackle on your own, then this blog post is for you.

I know what it feels like when it seems like there are so many things in front of us that we can’t do anything about because they’re just too big. It’s not true though!

Finding ways to be more savvy and less overwhelmed by our lives is actually really easy with these 61 tips that will make you a savvier traveler and give you some peace of mind at home.

Read on if travel has been on your mind lately but maybe you don’t have the time or money to take a break from life right now – this post is perfect for all types of travelers!

Be prepared with a travel kit that includes necessities such as medications

Make sure to carry a travel kit with you when going on vacation. This will make it easy for you to stay healthy while away from home by including things like medicine and other items that are essential for your health.

Whether you’re going for a week or two on vacation, or on a business trip, make sure to travel prepared. My travel kit always includes tons of medicine. I don’t want to catch something while out on the road, so I’m prepared for anything!

It’s also a good idea to include emergency contact information into your travel kit.

Keep your passport handy at all times – don’t put it in a safe or locker

Don’t leave your passport in a safe.

I don’t want to sound like your mother, but you should keep it with you at all times because if it’s stolen then that could cause problems when going through security or leaving the country.

Always keep your passport in a place you can easily access it in case you need to make an emergency exit.

Update apps to your destination’s currency to track your spending

You can track your spending more easily if you update the apps on your phone to the destination’s currency. That way, it will be easier for you to check how much money you have left so that there are no surprises when it comes time to pay.

If you’re traveling, it’s a good idea to set your phone to the local currency so that all of your transactions are automatically labeled with their correct prices.

Fiddling around with exchange rates all the time is not worth it!

Book flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to get the cheapest fares

The best time to book a flight is on Tuesday or Wednesday. That’s because most people are looking for flights over the weekend, so you can find some great deals if you have patience!

I first learned this trick from my flight attendant friends – and I can now confirm it works amazingly well! I’ve saved thousands of dollars by simply following this one travel hack.

Use Google Maps offline so you can still navigate even without a connection

If you’re driving or walking between places and don’t have a data connection, use Google Maps’ offline mode. It’ll still give you directions and useful information like the distance to your destination, what streets to take, and how long it’ll take to get there.

You can also download a map of your places of interest ahead of time, and then you get to use it anywhere – even on things like subways!

Carry a credit card from home country as well as one from destination country

If you are traveling to another country, it’s always a good idea to bring your credit card from your home country with you. You don’t want to rely on just one or two cards when travelling because that could be risky if one of them gets lost or stolen.

I always bring my credit card from home, as well as one from the place I’m going or alternatively an international card such as Revolut. In case anything happens, I always have a way to get money and communicate with people at home.

What are your own best travel hacks?

Traveling can be a stressful and terrifying experience, but it doesn’t have to be.

By following these simple tips, you will always know what to expect, where your passport is at all times, how much money you’re spending on flights and accommodations (and when), and most importantly, that you are ready in case of emergency.
